Good opportunities for international nurses/therapeutic specialists in Germany
If you want to work as a nurse or therapeutic specialist in Germany, you need state recognition of your qualification. In most cases, this requires language and professional adaptation qualifications. Recognition is checked by the competent authority of the federal state in which you want to work. As soon as you receive recognition, it is valid throughout Germany.
Important requirements for recognition:
1. Recognized Qualification
Your qualification as a skilled worker must be recognized as equivalent in Germany. If there are differences to the German qualification, you can complete an adaptation measure.
2. Sufficient Knowledge of German
Depending on the federal state, you will need a language certificate at level B1 or B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
What happens if your degree is from a non-EU country?
Before you apply for a visa, you should clarify which path you can take with your degree. There are two options:
1. Your degree is fully recognized
If your degree is recognized as equivalent and you meet all other requirements (e.g. language skills), you can apply for a visa as a skilled worker with a concrete employment contract. Once you have entered Germany, we will apply for a residence permit for qualified employment from the immigration authorities.
2. Your degree is not fully recognized
If you lack certain theoretical or practical qualifications, you can undertake adaptation measures in Germany. You can apply for a visa for the recognition of foreign professional qualifications, which gives you up to 18 months to catch up on the missing qualifications. This includes:
-
Adaptation courses
-
Preparation courses for examinations
-
Language courses
-
In-company training
During this time, you can already work as an assistant and earn money. As soon as you have full recognition, you can extend your residence permit by up to one year to work as an official skilled worker.
We will support you!
We not only help you with the recognition of your vocational qualification, but also with getting a place at a vocational school. This way, you can acquire all the necessary qualifications and start your career in Germany.
We will guide you on your way!
